🎸 Largest Concert In US History: Last week AXS announced that Zach Bryan and John Mayer would headline the first-ever concert at the Big House. Set for Saturday, September 27, the event is expected to break the record for largest concert in US history (a title currently held by George Straight’s 2024 concert at Texas A&M on Kyle Field). Tickets went on sale on Friday morning and sold out in 2 hours.

🧵 Joann Fabrics To Close: Last week Joann Fabrics announced plans to close 500 stores across the U.S. (about half of their national footprint). Of the 500 stores, 33 are in Michigan and 2 are in Washtenaw County (2897 Oak Valley Drive and 3737 Carpenter Road). An official closing date has not been announced.

Trinity Health

🧠 $10M Donation: An anonymous donor has gifted Trinity Health $10 million to establish a new neuroscience institute. The anonymous gift will fund expanded services, new technology, and a major renovation of the hospital’s Reichert Building. The institute will launch with a focus on dementia and Alzheimer’s care, offering new therapies and greater access to specialists. Future plans include programs for Parkinson’s disease and headache management. Construction starts later this year, with an expected opening in spring 2026.

🚒 Stolen Fire Truck: On Valentine’s Day someone stole a Scio Township fire engine and drove down Jackson Ave into Ann Arbor. Scio Fire Chief Andrew Houde said on Friday afternoon, while the crew was on a detail, “an individual unknown to the Scio Township Fire Department entered one of our fire engines and drove it away.” Ann Arbor Police, with help from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, stopped the truck near Jackson Ave and Lakeview Dr, detaining the suspect without incident.
