ANN ARBORITES SHOULD KNOW

Shakespeare in the Arb

🎭 Shakespeare in the Arb: Starting this week and continuing every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in June, Shakespeare in the Arb returns this year to present As You Like It. The 3-hour outdoor performances start at 6:30 pm in Nichols Arboretum. All tickets are general admission lawn seating and bringing a chair or blanket to sit on is recommended.

🚽 High-Tech Toilets: In an effort to add more downtown bathrooms, the city of Ann Arbor has begun installing eight free portable public bathrooms around town. Part of a one-year $500,000 pilot project, the high-tech restrooms are touchless, ADA compliant, unlock by scanning a QR code, and use usage data to ensure frequent cleanings. If porta potties meeting modern technology is your thing, here’s an Instagram video from the manufacturer, Throne Bathrooms.

🍳 Downtown Eggs: Iggy’s Eggies, a Detroit-based restaurant known for their customizable breakfast sandwiches and smash burgers, has opened their second location at 611 E Liberty Street (the old Salad’s Up location). Founded by a U of M alum, Iggy’s started as a walk-up window restaurant in Detroit 6 years ago.

🍗 Eat Mor Chikin: After receiving approval from the city’s planning commission, the old Denny’s on Washtenaw (3310 Washtenaw Ave) will officially be torn down and replaced with a Chick-fil-A. Assuming no construction delays, the Chick-fil-A will open in the fall of 2025. The Washtenaw location will be the first Chick-fil-A in the state built without a drive-through.
