Morning, Ann Arbor! And welcome to December! If you can swing it, try to head downtown this Friday night - Ann Arbor will transform into a winter wonderland as three downtown districts stay open late and turn on their holiday charm.
It’s one of those “ohh, this is why people love Ann Arbor” nights.

What is it: Late-night shopping, discounted eating and drinking, and sidewalk entertainment.
Where is it: Up and down Mainstreet
When is it: Technically all day Friday but most festivities start at 5

Why are people trying to sell me colorful tags: It’s for charity. Galens Tag Days is a volunteer organization led by U of M medical students that collects donations (in exchange for tags) during Midnight Madness. 100% of donations are given to local children’s organizations. Some downtown businesses will give you a discount if you’re wearing a tag. Here’s a helpful 4-minute explainer video.

🌨️ Record Snowfall: After receiving 24.8 inches of snow on Friday, Gaylord, Michigan, shattered its previous single-day snowfall record of 17 inches set in 1942. The snowstorm is welcome news for the ski town and serves as a promising start to the winter recreation season.

🏎️ GM To Join F1: General Motors (GM) has announced plans to enter Formula 1 in 2026 with its Cadillac brand. GM’s entry marks the sixth car manufacturer in F1, joining Mercedes, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, and Audi under new hybrid engine regulations. Cadillac will initially use a customer engine, likely from Ferrari, before developing its own by 2028.
