🌐 U-M Internet Interruption: After nearly four days offline due to a "significant security concern," the University of Michigan has restored internet access to its campuses. While the university remains tight-lipped about the nature of the issue, citing ongoing investigations, U-M Regent Paul Brown mentioned a "targeted attack on our institution." The outage threw a wrench into the first week of the fall term, prompting the setup of information tents for students on campus to find their classes with online resources unavailable.

🚔 Break-In Alert: The Ann Arbor Police Department is actively investigating a series of six home break-ins within a span of two days. The latest incident occurred on Sybil Street, where the suspect gained entry through a first-floor window. Authorities have apprehended one individual and recovered stolen items. The AAPD is currently examining the possibility that these incidents are interconnected.

📚 Show Your Love A2: This Sunday, U of M, in partnership with the Kerrytown, Main Street, and State Street districts, welcomes students, staff, and faculty to downtown Ann Arbor with the inaugural ‘UM Show Your Love A2’ event. 📜 Gov. Whitmer's New Pitch: Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is urging Michigan lawmakers to enact a statewide paid family and medical leave program. While the specifics are still up in the air, the goal is to give workers some "breathing room," especially after events like the birth of a child or a health crisis. Critics, including business groups, are concerned about how this would be funded and the potential tax implications. Whitmer argues that the policy would make Michigan more attractive to new residents and level the playing field for businesses big and small.

🎬 Lights, Camera, Incentives: Michigan lawmakers have proposed a new tax incentive to attract film, television, and multimedia projects to the state. If passed, the proposed legislation would offer up to 30% in tax credits for projects that film in Michigan and hire local talent. It's a reboot of a similar program that lured blockbusters like "Transformers" but was canned in 2015. Critics call it a Hollywood handout, but supporters see it as a marquee opportunity to keep young creatives in Michigan and boost local businesses.

🍂 Foliage Tracker: If you’re planning an Up North color tour, this interactive Fall Foliage tracker says Michigan’s trees will be in peak fall form the week of October 9th. Plan your trips accordingly.
