🛶 2023 Huron River Day: Sunday is the 43rd annual Huron River Day! Head to Gallup Park from 12 - 4 for music, food trucks, a classic boat show, a scavenger hunt for kids, and $5 kayak and canoe rentals. Pro tip: boat rentals are free if you ride your bike to Gallup.
🍳 Angelo’s to Close: By December of this year, Angelo’s will close. The 65-year-old owner Stephen Vangelatos, son of the original owner, is planning to retire and no one in his family wants to take over the business. Pending approval at tonight’s Board of Regents meeting, the University of Michigan is planning to purchase the building for $4.5 million to use for future, yet-to-be-determined purposes.
⛽️ School Evacuation: Students and staff were forced to evacuate from Ann Arbor Open School last week when firefighters discovered gasoline had accidentally been used as a cleaning agent in a classroom. Crews were called in to investigate when the smell of gasoline began to spread across the building Thursday afternoon. Firefighters used fans to ventilate the building and moved furniture off-site until the classroom was deemed safe.
🚲 Bike to Work Day: Tomorrow is Walk Bike Washtenaw’s annual Bike to Work Day. From 7 - 10 am, riders can stop at a number of participating local businesses for free food, drinks, and games. A few of the businesses participating:
