❄️ Snow Storm Parking: City Council just approved a new regulation that will ban street parking during some snow storms in an effort to clear snow more effectively. City officials are discussing making the first year of this policy an “educational year” without any ticketing or towing and eventually transitioning into enforcement and penalties. The city has not yet released the map of impacted streets.

🍳 Riverview Cafe Closing: The Riverview Cafe in Dexter is saying “Goodbye for now.” The popular breakfast spot was opened by the Hoxha family 10 years ago. In a note Albana Hoxha wrote, “On behalf of the Hoxha family I want to thank all of the customers and the community for supporting us over the last decade…We will always appreciate the everlasting memories that were made at the Riverview cafe.” The reason for the close is “unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances” surrounding a lease dispute. The Hoxha family hopes to someday return to serving the Dexter community.

🚗 Retro Plates: Expect to see more vintage license plates on the road soon. Starting in February, Michigan will offer a retro white-on-black license plate (originally issued from 1979 to 1983) and a white-on-blue Great Lakes plate (originally issued from 1983 to 2007). The state opted to reintroduce more vintage plates after the successful relaunch of the “Water-Winter Wonderland) plates in 2021.
